Well this thing has been a PITA!
Ive done this 2 times now (bought a used DSM) but this one I knew the history on.
The problem always starts that I take parts from another car and swap all at once. Good move if you have no problems, bad if your trying to track down problems.
Ive been battling with some idle surge for awhile now and I still dont have it licked but I believe I know what it is now, my throttle body when I rebuilt it. Its letting too much air by causing a lean condition at idle and making idle surge sometime (when the AC kicks on and off).
I got a Power FC installed though and switch to MAP and it works well and easy to tune on the fly. I also have the datalogit setup and I just setup the wideband last night to log into the PowerFC and it works good. I never have anyone to go tune with me so this is going to make tuning ALOT easier for 1 person.
Its perty cool, you basically get a 20x20 sheet that looks like excel and it starts blank. The cursor sits wereever the car is running at like say its idling at 1k rpm and load of 10% and it logs the AFR at that cell and as you drive the car it fills in the 20x20 sheet and saves the data. THen you can go back and change each value according to what was logged. SWEET!
Ill have to take a screen shot of it and post it.
I will post back later when I have some more time. I m just kinda excited how well it seems to work! So now I can drive around during the day and get a log and tune the car later. _________________ Frank
